    Hello guys.

I'm trying to update software version on mx204, but there is two files for download for recommended release - "VMHost 64-Bit" and "VMHost Net 64-Bit".  Can someone explain the difference and which file do I need ?

    Hi,

    please see the following link:

    https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/topic-map/junos-os-installation-packages.html

    MX Series Routers Package Names

    • Media keyword—Added to the prefix, a media keyword is only used when the image is not for use with the request system software add command. Media keywords follow the term media in the package name. Values for the media keyword include the following:

      • usb for images installed from a USB drive

      • net for images installed from the loader prompt

    Hi,

I read that link, but I believe those are about the install _images_ not the install _packages_.
For the MX204 there is both the .img files, which are tagged as USB or NET, but you also has the tgz-package, which is either just "VMHost" or "VMHost Net".

The "VMHost Net" is to freshinstall using PXE Netboot, you want the "VMhost" file.
