    Hi everyone,

My company recently purchased a Juniper MX5-T with these software characteristics attached. Before putting it online, I would like to update it. I know that if a google this, I'll have a thousand links. But I would like your opinions about this process because I do not have any idea about Juniper.
    root> show version
    Model: mx5-t
    JUNOS Base OS boot [12.1R5.5]
JUNOS Base OS Software Suite [12.1R5.5]
    JUNOS Kernel Software Suite [12.1R5.5]
JUNOS Packet Forwarding Engine Support (MX80) [12.1R5.5]
    JUNOS Online Documentation [12.1R5.5]
    JUNOS Routing Software Suite [12.1R5.5]

    Thank you!

You'll need to register your account on the support portal and the device on the support site.

This will be the download area for the mx versions.

    https://support.juniper.net/support/downloads/?f=mx

Support also has a document for recommended version of Junos by platform.

    https://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB21476

Generally you can jump 3 Junos major versions which is the number before the period.  So in your case jumping from 12 to 15 recommended is supported

    Hi Matias

First, your require credentials to Juniper portal for downloading Junos.
You can upgrade to 15 from 12 directly. You can use a pendrive formatted in fat32  or
Copy the file to the device using winscp.

Hi Spuluka, thank you for your answer, but now I have more doubts jjji
you said that I need to jump in 3 steps  (12 to 15, 15 to 19 ) or just only 3 steps. I ask you because one of the links you sent me shows this.

and if I update the S.O, I will lose the licenses?

thanks for helping me, I appreciate! !

Licenses do come across in the upgrade process and remain valid.

You'll need to check the release notes for Junos 19 to confirm.  But I do think more recent versions of Junos now support the 4 level jump.  But the details are in the release notes per new version you are going to as the target.
