How to do Multicast over layer3 leaf / spine datacenter network

  • 1.  How to do Multicast over layer3 leaf / spine datacenter network

What are my options for setting up a multicast environment in my own datacenter fabric?
The architecture is a simple spine and leaf layer 3 fabric.

I have a multicast source on one leaf and multicast receivers on multiple other leafs.  There is no L2 involved at all here, everything is routed.
Do i really need to do L3 VPN (MP-BGP/ MVPN) for multicast or is there some other way?

This is all on QFX5120 leaf switches.  I also have MX480 as border routers if needed

    Thanks
