  • 1.  Cannot ping when using instance import.

    Posted 10-04-2021 05:32

    Hi Guys,

I need your help. How can i communicate from Instance B on QFX1(left) to Instance B on QFX2?
Why i cannot ping on QFX1: ping routing-instance B source 10.255.255.1 10.255.255.2 when using configuration below?

    On QFX1 (left -Spine2):
    "ping routing-instance B source 10.255.255.1 10.255.255.2
ping: bind: Can't assign requested address"
and cannot ping using: ping routing-instance B 10.255.255.2

    Thank for your support.
    Regards,
    Ket, Vo Van.

    This message:
    ping routing-instance B source 10.255.255.1 10.255.255.2
ping: bind: Can't assign requested address

Indicates that the loopback interface for the address 10.255.255.1 is NOT assigned to routing-instance B.

What are the interface assignments on our routing instances?

    Hi Puluka,

Interface lo0.0 is assigned on routing instances B.
I want to communicate from Instance B on QFX1 to Instance B on QFX2, but interface et-0/0/1 (QFX1) -------et-0/0/50 (QFX2) are assigned to instance A.
    Thanks.

The ping routing-instance command names the source routing instance not the destination one.
So the routing instance specified needs to contain the specified source address.
