you can use the monitor command and specify specific sub interfaces as assigned to the desired routing instance

    monitor interface ge-0/0/0.0

I tried this, but it did not catch the traffic to the routing instance.
I have a lo0.2 in the virtual router, the remote site tries to peer with this interface via bgp. I attached wireshaek to the incoming interface and saw the bpg packets, but monitor traffic did not show any bpg packets.

    thanks !!

If you are looking for self traffic,  traffic going to the Junos device, you need to use a different monitor command.
    monitor interface
is for transit normal traffic coming into one interface and out another.

    monitor traffic interface
will look at traffic that starts or ends at the device routing engine
