Hello guys, I experienced a weird failure when increasing my  tunnel services bandwidth to 40G from 30G with the command set fpc 8 pic 0 tunnel-services bandwidth 40g. As a result, I could not have a an lt-8/0/0 interface instantiated on the FPC8. Had to do it successfully on another FPC.

I got an error in the chassis log that the file already exists. Please see below:

Nov 17 23:08:07 pic_update_ifdev_tlvs: pe-8/0/0 Marking SyncE cap TLV true for interface

Nov 17 23:08:07 pic_update_ifdev_tlvs: pe-8/0/0 IFM type is Not Ether

Hi , not all line cards support 40g tunnel-services. What type line card in slot 8 ?

Slot 8 has the MPC3E NG PQ & Flex Q.

    On this MPC3E, the following bandwidths are supported:   (1g | 10g | 20g | 30g | 40g)

Hi, have you tried to remove bandwidth statement from the configuration, commit and then configure 40G?

Also please note that when you use MPCs and MICs, tunnel interfaces are soft interfaces and allow as much traffic as the forwarding-path allows, so it is advantageous to setup tunnel services without artificially limiting traffic by use of the bandwidth option. However, you must specify bandwidthwhen configuring tunnel services for MX Series routers with DPCs or FPCs.
