    Hi all,

May i know in Juniper MX/QFX whether we can use VXLAN without EVPN and just using OSPF only like Arista or HPE can do. I mean just a small setup of VXLAN as long from DC-A can communicate to DC-B. Is below url can be an example just normal VXLAN. If yes then is compulsary to configure PIM as per url below. Appreciate if someone can give another url so i can look into it.

    Thanks

    Hi

You can try to use the Static VXLAN if you dont want to use EVPN as the control plane. Below is the link to do that

    https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/topic-map/vxlan-static.html

However this option has very limited use case.

Otherwise you need either EVPN or PIM for the control plane to establish the vtep tunnel.

    Hope this helps
