  • 1.  NAT/PAT Possible on MX5 with Builtin-MPC?

    Posted 01-26-2018 13:39

    Hi,

My MX5-T router shows the following for 'show chassis hardware':

FPC 0 BUILTIN BUILTIN MPC BUILTIN
      MIC 0 BUILTIN BUILTIN 4x 10GE XFP
        PIC 0 BUILTIN BUILTIN 4x 10GE XFP
FPC 1 BUILTIN BUILTIN MPC BUILTIN
      MIC 0 REV 27 750-028392 ABCE1123 3D 20x 1GE(LAN) SFP
        PIC 0 BUILTIN BUILTIN 10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
          Xcvr 9 REV 02 740-013111 8499509 SFP-T
        PIC 1 BUILTIN BUILTIN 10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
          Xcvr 0 REV 02 740-013111 E148735 SFP-T
    Fan Tray Fan Tray

Is the above hardware protfolio sufficient for the router to do NAT/PAT?

     Thanks.

    Hi,

You can use inline NAT. Please note, Only  Static NAT flavors are supported in inline NAT.

PAT is currently not supported on MX5/10 without a Service MIC

Note: Only static source NAT is supported. Port translation and dynamic NAT are not supported. An MS-MPC, MS-MIC, MS-DPC, or MS-PIC is still needed for any stateful-firewall processing and dynamic port translation
