  • 1.  Mgmt interface and routing-instances

    Guys,

I have two EX4200 running in the virtual-chassis mode and I have two types of management interface in the JunOS. The me0/me0.0 and vme0/vme0, what is the difference between them? Which is the best to be used for management purposes? There is an example of how to configure the mgmt interface in the routing-instances?

    Best regards,
    TM

vme0 is a floating mgmt interface that provides access to a VC over any member's physical interface. me0 is the physical mgmt interface tied to a particular member.

Mgmt interfaces in a routing instance is not supported on the EX4200/2200 platforms.

One is run across the Virtual Chassis (vme) and the other runs local in the device (me0).

    Hi

we assign IP address to VME0 unit 0 (vme0.0) interface as it is the floating interface , you can use this for the management of the stack
