Hello GXS,
For EX4300 - 48P for example, you need only to insert the SFPs of 1G/10G SFP SFP + inside the 4 uplinks ports,
so for the new setup there is no issue you can use from EX4300 side the 10G uplink since you mentioned that the module supports this speed i think you have this module EX-UM-4X4SFP
.
1. Can I replace the 1G sfp with a 10G sfp on my user switch ?
yes you can
2. Is there a certain slot on the 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+ module to install the 10G?
any port can work fine since they are already for this speeds you can share the module part number to check.
3. Is it plug & play or will I need to CLI configure the new 10G SFP?
the configurations depend on the port aggregation you specify if any, and from EX4600 side if you use one of its 24 ports you can try this after inserting the SFP in the port if the port speed has been recognized or there is any extra configuration required like EX4650.

Subject: 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+ module in EX4300 switch
Hello,
I have a ex4300 switch (user swith) with an 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+ module installed in it with 1G SFP uplink which is use to connect to the core switch. I will be replacing the core switch soon with an new EX4600 which comes with 10G uplinks. Now I have a few questions regarding this setup.
1. Can I replace the 1G sfp with a 10G sfp on my user switch ?
2. Is there a certain slot on the 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+ module to install the 10G?
3. Is it plug & play or will I need to CLI configure the new 10G SFP?
Thanks....
