    Posted 12-28-2020 14:09

I came across a variety of Q-in-Q configurations, I am configuring them in the labs. The following is one I am working on it, unfortunately I could not get it working now.

[EX/QFX] How to configure QinQ using ELS on Junos OS

I sniffed the ARP traffic on PE-2 on ge-0/0/1 to notice both vlan tags are popped, so arp request from CE-1 goes to CE-2 without any tag. so CE-2 does not reply.

Can anyone take a look the link above to see any more configuration I need to add ?

Note: I am testing in vQFX .

thanks a lot in advance !!

I used vQFX 18.4, today I loaded version 19.4. the same result.

    here is my topology.

    the following is my configuration

    root@vQFX-5# show interfaces xe-0/0/0 | display set
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 flexible-vlan-tagging
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 encapsulation extended-vlan-bridge
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 unit 10 vlan-id 10

    {master:0}[edit]
    root@vQFX-5# show interfaces xe-0/0/1 | display set
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 flexible-vlan-tagging
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 encapsulation extended-vlan-bridge
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 vlan-id-list 100
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 input-vlan-map push
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 output-vlan-map pop

    {master:0}[edit]
root@vQFX-5# show vlans | display set
    set vlans default vlan-id 1
    set vlans vlan10 interface xe-0/0/0.10
    set vlans vlan10 interface xe-0/0/1.10

    root@vQFX-6# show interfaces xe-0/0/0 | display set
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 flexible-vlan-tagging
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 encapsulation extended-vlan-bridge
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 unit 10 vlan-id 10

    {master:0}[edit]
    root@vQFX-6# show interfaces xe-0/0/1 | display set
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 flexible-vlan-tagging
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 encapsulation extended-vlan-bridge
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 vlan-id-list 100
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 input-vlan-map push
    set interfaces xe-0/0/1 unit 10 output-vlan-map pop

    {master:0}[edit]
root@vQFX-6# show vlans | display set
    set vlans default vlan-id 1
    set vlans vlan10 interface xe-0/0/0.10
    set vlans vlan10 interface xe-0/0/1.10

packet captured on xe-0/0/0 on vQFX-6

packet captured on xe-0/0/1 on vQFX-6

I spent a couple of days on it. I like to confirm the configuration is OK. the issue might be caused by the vQFX image.

thanks a lot  in advance !!

    Bonjour,

I am using QinQ on 2300 switches with Junos 20.2 in something that looks a lot like your test setup.

I don't see the use of  (neither am I using)  an encapsulation on the xe-0/0/0 interfaces connecting the switches together.

I also change the MTU, though, to accommodate the bigger packet created by adding the 2nd vlan tag.

Typical interface will look like this.  3912 and 3918 correspond to 2 different client interfaces , each pushing and pulling that tag exactly like your other interfaces show.

set interfaces ge-0/0/11 description "ge-0/0/11 TELEBEC CIRCUIT 01LMDQ250323TLBC"

    set interfaces ge-0/0/11 vlan-tagging

    set interfaces ge-0/0/11 mtu 1538

    set interfaces ge-0/0/11 unit 3912 vlan-id 3912

    set interfaces ge-0/0/11 unit 3918 vlan-id 3918

I'll try the configuration proposed in the KB article by the  in my lab later this week. : I am surprised it works at all.

    hope that helps,
