QFX5100 /dev folder is full

  • 1.  QFX5100 /dev folder is full

    Posted 16 days ago
    Hi,

I upgraded my QFX5100 today, but I realized that the /dev/ad0s1a is full. I did search but I did not find solution.

Anyone knows or do you have the same issue?

    Thanks in advance.

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

You can use "no-copy" option while upgrading.

For now, check for the files taking up more space using below command from shell and delete them if they're not required:

    % du -cks * | sort -rn

    Thanks.

I run the cli but no result. Not sure if there is a way to delete some unused files.

    :RE:0% du -cks * | sort -rn
    du: No match.

Best place to start is the Junos cleanup command that can recognize and remove some obvious files.

    request system storage cleanup

Yea, I did run the command line many times, but no space has been cleaned up. Not sure what is going on there.

    Thanks, Spuluka.

jump to the cli as root
    root@switch:RE:0% cd /

    root@switch:RE:0% du -h -d 1

    Hello, Randall

The KB helps. My problem was on the /dev folder that was 100% used, maybe it was fully allocated to partitions. Please see the screenshot above.

The /var folder looks good, with small usage.

    /dev folder usage

Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/ad0s1a 1.4G 1.3G 5.8M 100% /
    devfs 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev

    /var folder usage.

    procfs 4.0K 4.0K 0B 100% /proc
    /dev/ad1s1f 484M 11M 434M 2% /var
    /dev/ad1s1d 1.9G 16K 1.8G 0% /var/tmp
