I have an HP directly connected to my EX4300 on port 46 that I configured as a trunk. but when I do show route the HP does not come up as a directly connected device. The HP has an ip address of 192.168.2.218. I created a static route for the default route and it automatically points it out me0 instead of the trunk. Why is it doing this???

    Net_Admin# run show route

    inet.0: 3 destinations, 3 routes (3 active, 0 holddown, 0 hidden)
    Limit/Threshold: 32768/32768 destinations
    + = Active Route, - = Last Active, * = Both

    0.0.0.0/0 *[Static/5] 02:46:21
    > to 192.168.2.1 via me0.0
    to 192.168.2.218 via me0.0
    192.168.2.0/23 *[Direct/0] 04:21:55
    > via me0.0
    192.168.2.10/32 *[Local/0] 04:21:55
    Local via me0.0

Looking at your other post you only have static routing enabled. You also don't have an L3 interface (IP address) connected to your vlans. So you won't have any routing showing up in show route. If you don't want to route traffic out of your management interface then you'll need to create an L3 interface and attach it to your vlan you want to route OR setup an interface as a routed port (meaning put the IP right on it) and redefine your routing.

Trunk ports can simply pass the L2 traffic without routing them though.

If you just want to see if the switches "see" each other you can look at LLDP (assuming LLDP is enabled on the HP): show lldp neighbors
