I have an EX2300-C switch and I'm trying to see if I can utilize it as a L3 Switch in my lab and replace my older non Juniper switch.  I'm using the line below.  One of the command in there not working.  Instead of "vlan.100" I can only do "irb.100".  Would that make a difference?

    set vlans v100 l3-interface vlan.100

[EX] EX-series switch Layer 3 routed VLAN configuration - Juniper Networks
EX-series switches connect all devices in an office or data center into a single LAN to provide sharing of common resources such as printers and file servers and to enable wireless devices to connect to the LAN through wireless access points (WAPs).

The name of the RVI interface is one of the many changes with ELS (Enhance Layer 2 Services) changes on the EX switch line.  These changes bring the EX line into the cli method that has been in use on the larger MX series.  You can see an overview of the changes here.

    Hi,

EX2300 uses ELS configuration. Hence irb.xxx is the correct configuration and vlan.yyy is not supported on EX2300.

Junos has a unified L2 syntax that applies to multiple platforms, and the Routed VLAN Interface (RVI) syntax does not work in these platforms. Preferred method is ELS which uses Integrated Routing and Bridging (IRB) interfaces. For more info on the platform/code support, refer to https://apps.juniper.net/feature-explorer/feature-info.html?fKey=5890&fn=Uniform+Enhanced+Layer+2+Software+(ELS)+CLI+configuration+statements+and+operational+commands.

It is certainly easier to have a unified syntax from a customer perspective.
