The name of the RVI interface is one of the many changes with ELS (Enhance Layer 2 Services) changes on the EX switch line. These changes bring the EX line into the cli method that has been in use on the larger MX series. You can see an overview of the changes here.

Subject: RVI Configuration
I have an EX2300-C switch and I'm trying to see if I can utilize it as a L3 Switch in my lab and replace my older non Juniper switch. I'm using the line below. One of the command in there not working. Instead of "vlan.100" I can only do "irb.100". Would that make a difference?
set vlans v100 l3-interface vlan.100
