  • 1.  QFX5120-48Y, fans blink amber but no alarms

    Posted 12-10-2020 10:13
A customer has two new QFX5120-48Y switches and in both, the LEDs in the fans blink amber. Looking in the CLI, I see no alarms (system or chassis) and fan speeds seem reasonable. Is this perhaps a bug in Junos 20.2R2 (recommended release)? Could I please bother someone with the same hardware to go check the LEDs to see if they behave the same way? One fan module was re-seated with no change in behavior. Both fans and PSUs are AFO type so air flow direction should be OK.

    Hi fb35523,

Yes, this is a known issue right now, so far I have seen it on QFX5120 and EX4650 that use same chipset, however no PR has been released yet. Once the PR is released I can post it here.

    Regards,
    Jeff

Thanks a lot for the reply, Jeff! Please notify me if you see the PR. I searched but can't find anything, just as you said.

My Juniper SEs tell me that the QFX5120-48Y-8C and the EX4650 is the exact same hardware actually, not just the chipsets. I guess they program some EPROM or similar with the model number and sell them as different models and somewhat different feature sets.
