Hello all,
As the Subject states: on upgrading 15.1R5 to 15.1R6 & R7
My EX3300 switch refuses to fully load the config file. It is completely functional otherwise.
I receive the following when validating my config file:
root@OSW> ...iguration /config/rescue.conf.gz
[edit interfaces vlan unit 0 family inet]
'address X.X.X.9/24'
identical address found on multiple private or public interfaces
error: configuration check-out failed
I believe once I get this working the entire switch should return to normal. Worse case I roll back to 15.1R5.
Here is my config file:
root@OSW> show configuration

What did I do wrong? how can I fix this? To where the switch accepts the configuration? Basically it is set up to where all the interfaces use the X.X.X.9/24 IP.

Fixed the issue.
I started at 12.3
and finished at 15.1R7-S11
To get to 15.1R7.9 YOU must first:
12.3 -go to -> 15.1R1
then manual upgrade to:
R2
R3
R4
R5
@ 15.1R6 The firmware OS will change just enough so that it will not read your config file (this happened to me)
To fix:
I had to backup all configurations, IPs, etc...
Load the new firmware in this case 15.1R7.9
Factory RESET! (I zeroized it) - This blew away everything yet keeps the switch at the last firmware you loaded (in this case 15.1R7.9)
Then reconfigure with the ezsetup
This allowed the switch to regenerate a new config file with ezsetup I could enter in all my specific configurations into.
This worked. I am now fully patched witht the latest and greatest to include the Junos SRs (security Releases)
NOTE
To do this you must be root - "god" mode
Have a serial/console cable on hand
See juniper KBs on factory reset
