vSRX

i have been deploying vSRX from a vmware template to speed deployment.,  however ive subsequently noticed that the chassis serial number stays the same after the template is cloned.  This has an impact when you add all the vSRXes with same chassis serials to Junos space.  Space detects unique firewalls based off chassis serial number and hence wont manage the devices.

is there a way to re-generate or change chassis serial number on a vsrx?  it can obviously be done in software as unique chassis serials are assigned during ovf import

Hi just letting you know ive answered this.  Through trial and error you *can* actually change the vSRX chassis serial.  Just power off the virtual machine, edit the .vmx file, and change any of the last 8 characters on the line starting with the words:  uuid.BIOS.

one you save the .vmx file and start the VM back up, the chassis serial is changed!
