  • 1.  SRX1500 strange log entries in chassisd log file after upgrade

    Posted 01-20-2021 04:20
    Hello,

we are running SRX1500 cluster. Recently we performed software upgrade for both nodes in cluster from 15.1X49-D150.2 to 18.4R3.3. Everything went OK, cluster is working normally, all traffic is passing as it should. But /var/log/chassisd contains a lot of these messages:

    Jan 7 12:44:14 LCC: ch_cluster_lcc_set_context:564: failed to lock chassis_vmx mutex 11
    Jan 7 12:44:15 LCC: ch_cluster_lcc_set_context:564: failed to lock chassis_vmx mutex 11
    Jan 7 12:50:01 LCC: ch_cluster_lcc_set_context:564: failed to lock chassis_vmx mutex 11
    Jan 7 12:50:01 LCC: ch_cluster_lcc_set_context:564: failed to lock chassis_vmx mutex 11

Those messages are written to log file every few minutes constantly. Googling and checking Juniper site didn't help to find anything relevant.

Any ideas what could be a reason for those?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
this issue is said to be cosmetic and will be fixed in newer releases.

    Hello,

thank you for your answer. So basically we should try to install newer version, isn't it?

On the other hand we have almost the same configuration with SRX1500 cluster in other facility (for testing purposes), and there we don't get those messages in chassisd.

    Best regards

    Hi,
no need to upgrade. You can either just ignore the messages or if that's not possible filter them via http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB9382 or [EX] How to filter two or more specific messages from being written to the syslog file - Juniper Networks
I don't know the reason for these messages, so I can't say why they don't always occur.
    Regards
    Ulf
