    Is it possible to assign an inet address to a port and then put a router on the port with the same subnet settings? More specifically an Asus AP. Will traffic pass properly? What about an unspecified address?

    Srx=
    Interfaces ge-0/0/10.0 family inet address 192.168.1.x

    Asus AP
    address = 192.168.1.9

    Hello,
    Will the clients get an IP from the AP or from the firewall? In either case, I do not see why this would not work.
    I am not sure if I completely understood the requirement. Is this your setup?
    Client (192.168.1.10) --- AP (192.168.1.9) --- SRX (GW - 192.168.1.1) ---- NAT traffic to Internet

    I do this for my home network. I have an SRX300 with a WAN interface receiving an IP from my ISP and a LAN interface configured as 10.0.5.1. My AP, connected to that interface, is 10.0.5.2. Clients that connect to the AP receive a DHCP address from the SRX, not the AP. Of course, you could configure dhcp services on the AP. I chose not to for easier management and monitoring.

    Hi,

    This is a very common scenario and will surely work. The AP simply acts as a bridge between the wired and wireless networks.

    Do you see any challenges in this or facing any issues?

    Regards,

    I just wanted to know if it would work. That is the only point. To make sure the functionality existed.
