    what is the difference between IPS & UTM regardless of web filtering and URL ????

    i see that both of them inspect L7 and protect from attacks and viruses

    Hi AhmedMohamed,

     

    For Juniper, IPS=IDP - Intrusion detection functionality, that allows you to catch network attacks and protect your servers from known (sometimes even unknown) application-layer vulnerabilities. Can be used to protect clients from server-initiated attacks as well.

     

    UTM includes network Antivirus, Antispam, Web filtering and Content filtering features, this functionality is usually needed to protect users of your branch offices.

    That's my point , i see that both of them have a common function ( protect from L7 attacks), should i use one of them or what

    I also find the licensiing options confusing, but this is the logic to them.

     

    UTM are functions about user traffic 

    IDP is about internet threats in network traffic

    The SMB or Branch bundle include both
