    Hi

    SRX240h-p-m I've got from ebay, and first:

    root> show chassis hardware
    error: the chassis-control subsystem is not running

    root> show chassis routing-engine
    error: the chassis-control subsystem is not running

    root> show system alarms
    error: Aborted! This command can only be used on the master routing engine

    After small troobleshooting just - "the chassis-control subsystem is not running". Any idea?

    Regards

    Hi szczurek123,

    It appears that chassis-control process is not running on your SRX-100 box.
    Could you restart chassis-control process and check if it resolves the issue?

    CLI:

    restart chassis-control

    You may find the below kb usefule as well;

    Hi szczurek123,

    In that case I would suggest you follow the below steps;

    >set chassis cluster cluster-id 0 reboot

    After the device comes back up it should not face the issue..

    If you still do, then use the below command and remmove all the configuration fro  the device;

    >request system zeroize.

    This will clean up all the configuration present on the device.

    Also, do let me know what version of Junos you ar running on the device.

    Did anyone find a solution for this? I have a SRX210 with a similar problem that the chassis-control service can not start

    Thanks

    3 people with the same issue... Juniper, surely you can respond to this?

    Hi,

    I have taken a look on the logs and did some searching about this issue. Most probably this is a hardware issue and I have seen that most of the cases with this error have been resolved by replacing the device (RMA), though some of them were software issues (PR) that were resolved by doing a software upgrade. Anyway there were also core-dumps and some logs that could indicate this.

    So, just to rule out a software issue and to isolate it more, my recommendations are:

    1) rollback to previous software release if you haven't done it already:

    - if this will resolve the issue, then copy the backup slice to primary corrupted slice: > request system snapshot slice alternate

    2) upgrade the SRX to JTAC recommended release which for SRX210HE2 is Junos 12.3X48-D70:

    https://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB21476

    3) upgrade u-boot/loader (SRX BIOS) from SRX Shell:

    % bootupgrade –u /boot/uboot –l /boot/loader - after upgrade a reboot is needed

    4) RMA (return material authorization) the SRX device

    - for this you would need to have an active support contract and to open a case with JTAC

    Regards,

    Adrian
