As a follow-on to our fellow blogger Bill's Christmas list, we wanted to provide some additional details on the hardware improvements driven by the new routing-engine (RE-1800) and the new Switch Control Board Enhanced (SCBE) for the SRX5k series with our latest release 12.1X47-D15.
First off lets start with where to get the release notes and code.

Key Highlights for Switch Control Board Refresh on SRX5k Series (SCBE):

- Up to 120G per slot throughput (Raw fabric bandwidth up to 160G)

- Intra and Inter chassis switch fabric redundancy

Intra Chassis Switch Fabric Redundancy Explained on the SRX5800 with the new SCBE.

Redundant planes illustrated in blue providing intra-chassis switch fabric redundancy. Intra-chassis fabrc redundacy offers an additional level of hardware redundacy within a single chassis and also reduces the number of node failovers due to SCB failures.

The SRX5400 only supports 1 SCB/RE thus it does not support the SCB redundancy we discussed above.
