As a follow-on to our fellow blogger
Bill's Christmas list, we wanted to provide some additional details on the hardware improvements driven by the new routing-engine (RE-1800) and the new Switch Control Board Enhanced (SCBE) for the SRX5k series with our latest release 12.1X47-D15.
First off lets start with where to get the release notes and code.

Key Highlights for the Routing Engine Refresh on the SRX5k series, Old vs New

Key Highlights for Switch Control Board Refresh on SRX5k Series (SCBE):
- Up to 120G per slot throughput (Raw fabric bandwidth up to 160G)
- Intra and Inter chassis switch fabric redundancy

Redundant planes illustrated in blue providing intra-chassis switch fabric redundancy. Intra-chassis fabrc redundacy offers an additional level of hardware redundacy within a single chassis and also reduces the number of node failovers due to SCB failures.
The SRX5400 only supports 1 SCB/RE thus it does not support the SCB redundancy we discussed above.
