Where can I learn more about NETCONF?

By Elevate posted 06-09-2014 19:58

Overview

NETCONF resources for Junos OS automation.

Feature

The Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) provides mechanisms to install, manipulate, and delete the configuration of network devices. It uses an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based data encoding for the configuration data as well as the protocol messages. The NETCONF protocol operations are realized as remote procedure calls (RPCs).

NETCONF is a network management protocol from the IETF. The latest version is RFC 6241.

That's good to know. Thanks for the information, Blake. I'll look into getting the links updated.

Thanks again. Keep the comments coming if anything else comes up.

BTW Juniper's NCClient fork has been merged back into the main repository (https://github.com/leopoul/ncclient).

If you've already got a basic Python environment set up you can install both NCClient & JunOS PyEz with pip:

pip install ncclient junos-eznc

that's all 🙂Edited 10:15, 10 Jun 2014
